Mistakes I Made When I First Started Blogging

Mistakes I Made When I First Started Blogging
When I initially started blogging, it was around 5 years ago and I would say it was a sort of accidental result. I ended up on blogger when a friend of mine introduced me to it and I thought it was cool to have a blog because it is rare! So, I am in. But my idea of blogging was rather unclear and I used it as a medium to express my anger, hatred, and above all, to share my love life for the world to see.

Fast forward to a few years where I grew up and so did my mind, I wanted to erase all the negative vibes and clean them up. I made the decision to delete my previous blog and promised to never get involved in blogging. BUT! I missed it. I missed sharing, I missed writing and I missed getting to know awesome people. So I ventured back into this world of awesomeness a year back and this is when all the actual learning began.

This is the space where I learned things, I made mistakes, errors, etc. And I want to share my mistakes with you today.

Too focused on quantity over quality

Back in the day, I thought that it was better to have something posted (even though it is not beneficial) rather than to miss a day. I would write 10 posts that are short and don't provide any information at all.

Never consider the readers

At the very beginning, my blog was all about me. It was about things that were going on in my life, food I ate, places I have visited, or topics I was interested in. Now I am not saying it is a bad thing, but I didn't consider my readers. I didn't ask questions, I didn't respond to any comments at all, it was always about me and I wasn't that friendly as well.

Wasn't building relationships or engaging with the visitors

On the same note, I wasn't building a relationship with the visitors Building a relationship is one of the keys to getting people to return to your blog. I remember I even disabled the comment section on my blog because it seemed ugly. WHAT WAS I THINKING!?

Poor grammar/ choice of words

I will be the first one to admit that my grammar wasn't that good, but I am getting better. I posted a lot of entries with poor grammar back then. I didn't fix all the silly little mistakes and I didn't even care how my content looks.
What are your blogging mistakes did you make when you first starting out?

  12. My mistakes in blogging was sharing everything that had happen in my everyday life. Like, what was I thinking when sharing about the person I like or hate in my blog? It was so childish I cannot bear to read my old blog posts and eventually deleted all of it. My old blog posts almost reached 500+ entries of nonsense from 2011. /sigh/ /face palm/ I actually still have that side of childish entries in my blog, but I tried to reduce it now because no one wanted to read a non-beneficial entry, right? haha
