Beauty Discoveries: Naturals by Watsons, Bougas Beauty etc.

I'm not gonna lie, I spent hundreds and hundreds of ringgit just to test out as many beauty products as I can because you will never know how a certain product reacts until you try it on yourself. Or maybe I just love spending my hard-earned money on things I love.

This time around is actually a great time for me to experiment a bit and yes, I'm upping my beauty game before 2019 starts! Among my newly acquired beauty routine, I have been paying more attention to my skin. But I threw in some makeup products here and there as well because you know I can't resist. Brace yourself because this post is a long one.

I will start with the Simple Hydrating Cleansing Oil. So far so good with this. It provides such a smooth and effortless cleaning process. I was quite surprised that upon massaging the oil, my skin was completely void of the makeup. I found that it does a great job removing my waterproof mascara too. It seems to remove it effortlessly without the need for harsh rubbing. I don't know why I have been sleeping on it. This is actually so good!

Next up, let's talk about this new product exclusively by Watsons, which is the Rice Bran & Soy Bean Illuminating Essence Lotion. I have not seen this product particularly being reviewed by many people so I'm intrigued to try it out myself. I'm still on the fence with this one though. Maybe I have to try it more often since I only use this during nighttime. The reason why I picked it up was that Niacinamide is the top 5 ingredient in this essence. I had to.

Update 20/11/2020: I really want to love this toner but unfortunately its thick texture isn't helping much for my oily skin. I wake up to white tiny bumps almost every day with it. If you have oily skin and acne-prone skin, please keep this in mind.

Moving on to another product that also contains Niacinamide. I know, I can't stop myself. It promises to achieve flawless skin in just 30 days! Of course, I'm sold! Yes, it's the Some By Mi Miracle Toner I'm talking about.

Just a little heads up, it's not really a miracle because I have been using it for more than 30 days now and my skin is nowhere near as flawless as they claimed. Sorry to break it out to you. Don't get me wrong. I'm not disappointed with this toner. It's part of their marketing tactic and you probably need more than 30 days to achieve the claim. One thing that I noticed, it purges all of my acne and then heals them, and minimizes my pores. So that's great too, I guess.

All I can is it's a great AHA/BHA toner if you're a newbie, you have strong basics (in terms of skincare) and you wear sunscreen every day. I can see tiny improvements on my skin but that's about it.

Apart from my oily skin, I also think acne scars are part of my skin concerns. So I went to my local drugstore to pick up any post-acne treatment to vanish all of these disturbing scars. I was sold by Hiruscar Post-Acne Gel because of course, it contains Niacinamide (sorry if y'all are bored with my reasoning) and people on Twitter have been raving about it for quite a hot minute.

Nevertheless, I think my dark spots have improved miraculously. It has not fully recovered by any means but I could feel that with frequent usage, I can get rid of all of my acne scars! It also says within 4 weeks, you will see the best result. I don't know if I should buy that.

Moving on to the latest addition to my skincare routine, welcome aboard Bougas Beauty Serum. I'm pretty sure almost all of my Malaysian readers have heard about it at least once. For my international readers, it's basically a serum from local skincare. Anyway, I love this one as it fixes my skin in just a few weeks, especially with my oil production! Other than that, it hydrates my skin, balances my moisture barrier, minimizes acne build-up, and reduces existing ones. Not all local products are trash, okay?

Okay, let's talk about makeup! I'm so excited. I recently bought the IN2IT Cover Smooth Loose Powder because I just want to try every single loose powder at the drugstore so that I will take note of which one is worth purchasing and which one is not. For this loose powder particularly, I have a love-hate relationship with it. I mean, it has good coverage and mattifies my skin so well. You have to be careful because it can look cakey if you put too much. This is a powder that's meant to be put lightly on your skin.

Last but not least, phew, I finally got the Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer. I was so excited when I got this, I immediately went home and applied it to my face. So nice, buttery, and easy to blend. Did I mention the scent? Ugh, it's to die for! There's nothing to hate about this bronzer for now though unless you don't like a little bit of sheen on your bronzer, then this is not for you.
