Hello everyone! It's been a while since I last reviewed a foundation. So, today I will be reviewing the foundation that I got from NSQ Cosmetics (Malaysian brand) which is D'Vanda Weighless Essence Foundation.

I haven't heard of this brand specifically, not until the founder itself reached out to me, introduced me and briefed me about the whole shebang. Honestly, I was so skeptical but that lead me to do some research and "homework" by myself. I have tried this foundation for quite a few weeks now, and if you're following me on Instagram, you had probably seen my mini first impression on this foundation but that's about that.

PRODUCT CLAIMS:

"Decreases and treats pigmentation slowly from within. Improves acne problems, acne scars, dull complexion, and uneven skin tone. It decreases the appearance of wrinkles and brings back the "youth" of the skin. 3 in 1 foundation: makeup, treats and protects. Lightweight and easy to apply. Great for everyday use and natural look. Medium to full coverage. Wudhu' friendly and easy to remove. Non-cakey foundation."

PACKAGING:

Can we talk about the box for a second? It's so pretty, am I right or am I right? I'm a sucker for pretty boxes and you best bet that I keep pretty boxes like this. I have tons of them. Anyway, let's talk about the actual product now.
I. Freaking. Love. It. It's so pretty! It's a frosted glass bottle and yes, it has a pump. Thank god! It's always a plus in my eyes. I really appreciate brands that really invest in great packaging and practical for the customers. I have nothing much to say about the packaging. I really like it.

SHADE MATCH & COLOR PAYOFF:

When I first got this foundation, I was a little scared because I can tell from the bottle that it's too light for my skin tone. Surprisingly, the shade almost matches my skin! I'm so surprised because I have medium tanned skin with a neutral undertone but this foundation doesn't look weird or greyish on me and most importantly, it doesn't oxidize. Thank god! However, you can tell that I'm wearing a foundation though it claims to be for everyday use and natural-looking, it almost doesn't look natural. Maybe it's just my skin.

FORMULA & COVERAGE:

The formula is definitely not matte. My face was really "glowy" and dewy after applying it. It has a dewy and satin finish, I would say. I'm loving the dewy, satin finish lately. I'm so used to matte formulas that I want to try something else.

Anyway, the consistency is very liquidy and runny when I did 2 pumps of product on the back of my hand, which means, it's lightweight. It's so easy to blend which is good because you never know when you're running late and you're using a hard to blend type of foundation and you get frustrated, you got like uneven application and streaks everywhere. That's not cute. So, I like the fact that it's easy to blend.

However, it creases on me so bad (even after a few minutes of application) and it clings on to my dry patches. Just bear in mind that this is the type of foundation that you need to set with powder.

As far as coverage goes, I would say it has medium coverage. I tried to build it up to get to the fuller coverage like it claims to be but it almost looked cakey, patchy and uneven. And yes, I removed the foundation and had to re-apply it because I wasn't happy with how it turned out. So, medium coverage it is and medium coverage foundation is great for everyday use.

LONGEVITY:

The longevity is not half bad. I wore it for 6+ hours and nothing major worn off situation happened though I touched my face a lot. That's pretty impressive in my opinion because it was quite a long period of time. You know I had this thought in my mind saying it won't survive because local products I have used before had poor wear time but thankfully not this one. Another thing I like about it is, I didn't turn into a greasy mess at the end of the day though one of it's main ingredients is marula oil. I'm so pleasantly surprised!

PROS:

Great for everyday use
Doesn't oxidize
Doesn't break me out
Blends easily
Great staying power
Has SPF
Convenient packaging
Buildable

CONS:

Creases and settle into fine lines
Clings to dry patches
Strong fragrance and it lingers for quite a while
Poor shade range

VERDICT:

I can see myself wearing this foundation again in the future. I like the fact that it's buildable, great for everyday wear and doesn't break me out. I think it's worth checking out and support our own local product. They deserve the spotlight too.

Have you ever tried this foundation? What's your favorite foundation of all time?

Beauty Tools I Can't Live Without | LENNE ZULKIFLLY

Beauty tools are something that I rarely talk about on the blog as much as I should, I mean I, of course, can't do my makeup without them so they're vital. I don't have much, I think my beauty tools collection is pretty okay and normal lol. Even though I don't have much, I wear them every day. Everyday. I swear by them, I love them and I thought it would be fun to share them with you guys!

1. Beauty sponge

The very first thing is beauty sponge. Nothing really beats a good makeup sponge. It has come to the point where I can't function without it. It's funny how I used to apply foundation with my fingers because I think it's the best tool to apply your foundation but now I'm here, can't live without my beauty sponge. It's genuinely life-changing and it's the best tool ever invented.

I own the black beauty blender from Sephora and I'm so in love with it. I can't emphasize enough that I'm too obsessed because it allows my foundation application to be 100 times better and more flawless. It doesn't have to be from Sephora, I know Real Techniques have quite similar ones and you also can get it at drugstores.

2. Eyelash curler

Just so you know, the Asian gene in me is so strong that my eyelashes grew straight down, thin and sparse. Well, then I know eyelash curler is really a big thing to my eyelashes and we've been friends since I can't even remember.

I want to look fresh and bright every day with or without mascara and it never fails to make vast differences to my face. I know curling your lashes literally every day is not good because it brings damage to the eyelashes but I'd say don't go too harsh while curling your eyelashes. Gentle squeeze with the right amount of pressure is all you need. Anyway, eyelash curler, I can't live without it too. I look fresh and awake every day thanks to this baby.

3. Blush brush

I literally use this brush for everything. I use it to apply my blusher (obviously), I use it to apply my powder, to touch-up my makeup, to sweep off my bake, to highlight, literally everything. I feel like it's the most 'universal' brush because you can never go wrong with it. It's fluffy, big, dense and has the perfect shape to do almost everything. I also don't bring a lot of brush while traveling because this brush already does so much for me.

4. Blending brush

I own like 5 of blending brushes just because this type of brush is absolutely the best brush to blend eyeshadows with if you're the type of person who doesn't wear a lot of color on your eyelids or even if you're wearing a lot of colors, it's worth to own. I usually use like 1 or 2 shades on my eyes and I only use blending brush to apply them. Easy-peasy.
