Five Things In December

Oh 2016, it seems you are leaving as quickly as you arrived. You have been a tough one, you have tested my patience and pushed it to the limit. Ahh, the ups and downs. Did you all achieve what you set out to? Let's be real, did you set any goals at all? Whatever it is, hopefully we all have good memories and accomplishments to take with us into the new year.

But before anything, let's see what's up in December.

five things in december

The rental and bills are driving me nuts
The cost of  living in the city is just crazy. Crazy. I'm just a student and I'm unemployed. Recently, we just lost two house members and that means everyone has to pay more rental and bills than the usual to cover the payments of the two fellas. By all means, I have to cut off my beauty shopping expenses for the better. #AlwaysBrokeAnyway

Too many semester projects, too little time
I want the time to slow down so I can fit everything in it. No excuses though, but I haven't made time to blog lately. The semester projects are killing me. The last three weeks have been packed! I just started a new semester but it feels like a final week or something. Heck lot of presentation, project and submission. That's what has been keeping me busy these past few weeks. This is only the beginning girl, there's more to come and I should stop whining.

Taman Botani Negara
Ahh, roommates bonding time! We will have at least a day to discover places and just hangout. So this time, it's the Taman Botani Negara.

To be honest, we didn't discover the whole place though. We got so tired walking and waiting for the bus. They also provided cycling facilities that cost MYR10 for an hour but we're just not feeling it. #Cheapskate

Christmas movie marathon!
A week is about enough to have a movie marathon. I'm currently on Christmas break so why not? I just love the idea of snuggling with my plushie under the blanket while watching my all time fav Christmas movies and every once in a while listening to the sound of the pouring rain. Ahh, who doesn't love that!? Oh! And my all time favorite Christmas films definitely Home Alone, The Holiday, Love Actually and How The Grinch Stole Christmas. What is your favorite Christmas film?

I didn't make New Year's resolutions
I haven't made a New Year's resolution yet. Actually, I didn't plan on making one just because I feel like it's useless. I have set out so many goals for the past.. I don't know, 3 years? And I didn't achieve any of them. I feel like it's almost impossible for me to achieve if I make one. I see plenty of bloggers resolving this and that and that's a good thing. But I don't know, I don't need New Year's resolution to spur me this time. If I want it, then I want it and I'm going to achieve it. There's nothing I need to resolve to do, nothing dramatic or requiring a resolution to push me forward. That's that.
All in all, I hope you had a splendid December and meaningful 2016. May 2017 brings you many joy and happiness! 💖

For When I Have 30 Minutes To Get Ready

30 minutes... Maybe not that bad to some of you, you can still rock that ankle boots, wing that eyeliner etc. But not for your homegirl. It is a disaster. I need at least an hour and a half. I love to take my time. I hate the idea of rushing, hurrying - just no. It can be stressful as heck and tiring in the early hours of my day! So in today's post, I will be sharing what I usually do when I only have stressful 30 minutes to get ready and how I still show up looking well-fed.

for when i have 30 minutes to get ready

5 minutes shower or less

The key here is to multitasking. You gotta do what you gotta do honey. I usually will brush my teeth and pee at the same time. Now, I have tons of shower gel in my bathroom I do not even know why. My go-to shower cream is the Lux Magical Spell because the smell is to die for, plus it lasts the whole day!

Choose the simplest and fuss-free outfit

By simple and fuss-free I mean I cut the fuss to iron my outfit. Ain't nobody got time for that. A dress, jumpsuit or basically one-piece outfit will do the job. That's that. While I am in the shower, I will hang my outfit as well as my anti-wrinkle hijab and no one will know I got up a half hour ago. #NoShame

"Go for the simple and easy but gives impact makeup look"

I go by this mantra when I am in a hurry. It is better for me to keep it simple or else I will be running late. Even though I only have 30 minutes to get ready, I honestly feel naked if I do not at least have a little lipstick and perhaps perky eyelashes. So my logic is that I cut off products that are less important such as primer, foundation and eyeliner.

My first picks when I am running late are the CC Cream, loose compact powder, blusher, mascara, and MAC's Velvet Teddy.

Simple. Easy. But high impact? Girl, you gotta play with the mascara. That is the impact. It really changes the whole look! Don't trust me? Go give your eyelashes some coats of mascara now. My secret is to apply several coats of mascara. By several I mean profusely. One thing that concerns me is that the mascara I am using is flippin' hard to remove! Other than that, I love it. It holds the curl, does not budge and smudge.

Eat on the go

Oh, homegirl gotta have something to munch on or else she gets grumpy lol. I make it crucial to have something to eat because I know I am going to have a long day, everyday. My favs are totally oatmeal cookies or an apple!

There we have it! Just a few things I do to help me get ready in a rush and still look and feel great. Regardless, there is a small element of planning shall involved - it's better to think ahead the night before to make sure you have picked the right outfit and not forgetting important things like keys and phone.

What do you do when you only have 30 minutes to get ready? Is 30 minutes really enough?

Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer

maybelline instant age rewind concealer

Hi everyone! You know what it is, it's review time. And today I'm reviewing the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circle Concealer. As far as I know, this is a treatment concealer and have been insanely raved about, be it in the blogging world or Youtube world. Now, this concealer may have been reviewed and swatched countless times but whatever, I'm going to review it anyway.

maybelline instant age rewind concealer

It retails for MYR32. It may be cheaper or more expensive depending on which drugstore you get them at. Honestly speaking, it's actually very high up there for a drugstore concealer but it's definitely worth the hype. I'd say, try to get it during sales so it'll be more worth it!

Where to get

Guardian, Watsons, Aeon Wellness

Shade range

There are 6 shades, I believe. But in Malaysia, that's not the case. There are only 2 shades available here, light and medium. I got mine in 'Medium' because it suits with my medium tanned skin. If you are on the fairer side, you might want to try the light shade. I hope they will expand the shade range because I want to try the other shades too, especially the neutralizer!

Safe to say that it's perfect for the under eye area as it's lightweight yet covers up my worst dark circles. I use the Garnier Brightening Eye Roll On before applying it and it glides on so smooth! But bear in mind, it's a lightweight concealer but it's not that creamy so it sets really fast and you need to blend real quick.

It has a round sponge tip and you simply need to turn and click the head of the applicator to set the product out. 4-5 clicks to the left is about enough product to cover around the eyes. I actually really like it. It's not like a typical concealer packaging that has a doe-foot applicator. I like the sponge applicator even though you may not agree with me. Some people seem to hate the sponge tip just because it seems unhygienic. I honestly don't mind it, you can just use your concealer brush, right? It's there for a reason.

Medium to high coverage, I suppose. It really cover up my dark circles very well. It also great for highlighting! I usually do the "triangle" under the eyes, highlight on the bridge of  my nose, in between my brows and my chin.

Staying power

It lasted the whole day! No patchiness, not drying under the eyes, doesn't crumble and all of that good stuff. However, it settled quite a bit into my fine lines. Just a little but it bothers me so much.

What I like about this concealer

  • Extremely lightweight
  • Perfect for everyday use
  • Cover my dark circles so well
  • Matte
  • Lasts all day long
  • Blends well
  • Doesn't oxides
  • Medium to high coverage
  • The sponge applicator is perfect for my under eye
  • Looks natural
  • Doesn't break me out

What I don't like about this concealer

  • Settle in my fine lines after 7-ish hours
  • Poor shade range
  • Always out of stock

I have used the product for 4 months now and apart from the issues that I pointed out, I'm pretty happy with it still. At first, it was impossible to talk negative about this concealer but as time goes, it's slowly telling me that it does have drawbacks. All in all, I love it. Sometimes I like to rotate between this and my trustee 'ol Maybelline Pure Mineral Concealer. Both works well for me. Would I recommend this concealer? Heck yes.

PS: Please pray for my skin

Too Much Information Tag | I Missed My Flight?

too much information tag

This tag has been so famous lately and everyone was answering and I can't help but to relate. Everyone was posting and I realized I haven't done it just because 50 questions? Oh boy, I ain't Beyonce to begin with lol. But tag questions are fun to do as it's very relax and I always enjoy my time answering them. So without any further ado, let's make a room filled with fun! Here's my take on this ever-famous TMI tag.

Q1. What are you wearing?
I'm wearing a short pants from H&M and a sleeveless top from Nichii.

Q2. Ever been in love?
Of course! As a matter of fact, I was and still am.

Q3. Ever had a terrible breakup?
I did, actually. I hate breakups. Especially on the phone. So unprofessional.

Q4. How tall are you?
5'3, 161cm precisely. I love my height. It's actually an ideal height for me. Not too tall, not too short. Just right.

Q5. How much do you weigh?
As of now, it's between 48 to 49 kilos. I have been 40 kilos, 55 kilos but whatevs. It's just a number.

Q6. Any tatoos?
Nah fam. It's haram. But if it's legal in Islam though, it would be an infinity sign either on my wrist or my ring finger.

Q7. Any piercings?
Nope, I have never pierced my body because I'm bloody scared.

Q8. OTP?
I honestly don't have any.

Q9. Favorite show?
KUWTK, Two Broke Girls and Running Man.

Q10.Favorite bands?
Westlife, Maroon 5, BSB, Paramore.

Q11. Something you miss?
I miss being on a vacation. I miss being in a some kind of family dinner and play awesome games. We hardly ever have these type of dinners anymore. Ahh I miss it so much!

Q12. Favorite song?
I have an amount of songs that I love and I can't just pick one and that's it. No. I'm a huge music lover but if I had to choose only one, it is "All We Know" by The Chainsmoker ft. Pheobe Ryan. Yea, at the moment.

Q13. How old are you?
I'm 20 ✨

Q14. Zodiac sign?

Q15. Quality you look for in a partner?
Loyalty, intelligence, sense of humor. Yknow what, it could be more than that but you know the list can go on and on. We just need to 'click' well, be able to have fun but also able to understand each other.

Q16. What is your favorite quote?
"I'd rather be hated for who I am rather than be loved from who I am not"

Q17. Favorite actor?
DiCaprio and Johnny Depp.

Q18. Favorite color?
Anything pastel.

Q19. Loud music or soft?
It depends on the circumstances.

To my room. It's the perfect haven. Probably with a cup of tea, a blanket with my diary open, waiting for my thoughts to be constructed into words of vain.

Q21. How long it take for you to shower?
It depends. Anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. There's nothing in between.

Q22. How long does it take for you to get ready in the morning?
30 minutes up to an hour and a half.

Q23. Have you ever been in a physical fight?
Yes, when I was a lot younger. There was this girl obsessed with winning and filled with envy and can't seem to accept the fact when I made it to the top 10 rank in my school.

Q24. Turn on?
Smelling good, confident, intelligence and funny too.

Q25. Turn off?
Smoking and rude.

Q26. The reason I joined Blogger?
I guess I just liked the idea of having one. Haha. I just wanted to share my thoughts rather than just having them in some sort of secret diary.

Q27. Fears?
Irrational fears included? Hmm I'm afraid of glass, heights and cockroach. The other way around would be failures, losing someone I really love and to be a huge disappointment to someone who really love me.

Q28. Last thing that made you cry?
The day when I missed my flight. Technically speaking, I didn't missed my flight. I just forgot to check in earlier. I was never late! I don't know what's gotten into me. I had to pay MYR600+ for penalty and I was crying like hell in my flight to Shah Alam. I have caused so much trouble already and here's another one. I felt bad, I felt useless. So long story short, here I am now in Shah Alam. And I can't wait to be home again.

Q29. Last time you said you love someone?
This morning, to my lovely mom. I say "I love you" like everyday to my mom so that she knows wherever I am, I will always love her.

Hmm, I'm not much of a jewelry person but I love my rose gold watch that I have had for ages!

Q45. Last sport you play?
Badminton and it was like.. 6 months ago haha.

Q46. Last song you sang?
"I didn't know that I was starving till I tasted you" I get all giddy when I hear this song. It's really catchy! It's by Hailee Steinfeld btw. You go girl! Who's obsessed with this song? I mean, it's really catchy omg I can't.

Q47. Favorite pick up line?
This is something that my s/o and I love to do but he's the one who loves it more because I do lame pick up lines and sometimes it didn't work so. My favorite one from him is probably this:

"You know that Leicester menang English Premier League? Tu team underdog yknow. But sekuat mana pun dorang sampai menang still tak boleh kalahkan you yang menang hati i."

HAHAHA it's just how we mesh. I'm not good at it though, but I have said more less like this when he asked me where have I been because I didn't text him the whole day:

"I'm here now, where am I supposed to be kalau bukan beside you kan?"

Q48. Have you ever used it?
Of course! Not only with my s/o but to my girls as well. We do lame jokes, lame pick up lines, lame everything because we're pretty lame lol. Nah, that's just how we communicate.

Q49. Last time you hung out with anyone?
I didn't remember the exact date or day or time because I'm such a dummy with dates, numbers etc. But it was with my girls, we went to Aeon Mall just so I can eat my steamed bread with sangkaya at Boat Noodle.

Q50. Who should answer these questions next?
Anyone who haven't done this tag, probably?

Thank you so much for reading! Phew, 50 questions ain't that easy to answer as it took me about 3 hours to complete it. If you reached till the end, kudos to you.

My Take On Liquid Lipstick

My fellow sisters, if you don't know about liquid lipstick, where have you been? IT'S E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E NOW. Every company, every brand has came out with their own version of liquid lipstick. You know the ones that doesn't budge, has a great formula, lasts the whole day and has soooo many intriguing colors to choose from. It's fun! And I love fun. With that being said, there are few things I usually do when it comes to wearing liquid lipstick. I'm no expert but these are all based on my past experiences and lots of reading. After all, my love for lip products is really huge and here's my take on liquid lipstick.

By little goes a long way I mean, you don't need much (really) because liquid lipstick is very pigmented - one or two stroke is enough. I usually will clean off the wand first on the inside of the tube before I put it on. Just because that way, I will have more control and it goes smoothly on my lips and not flaking! Besides, I will save more products and I can use it for quite a longer time than I thought.

You can't simply put it on in 5 seconds. When applying liquid lipstick, you absolutely need patience. A lot of it. Here's what I usually do, I will take my smaller mirror, take a deep breath and apply it slowly and smoothly. Just take your time! No need to rush the job, you will end up with a globby finish and most likely streaky and get it all over the teeth. Now that's not cute.

Some liquid lipstick formula can be so drying, you just have to accept the fact that they are not created equally. Some are hydrating,  some are not. Some protrudes the fine lines on my lips, some are not. Regardless,  I love them. Lip balm has always got my back! So I just run some lip balm on top of the liquid lipstick if my lips are feeling super dry and tight. My favorite lip balm is gotta be the ones from Lip Ice!

Why I said so? In my opinion, liquid lipstick doesn't look good with a naked face. Yknow what I mean? You have to pair it with at least a simple eye makeup look and winged liner. That's what I usually do. It really balances out the whole look with the matte statement on my lips.

When it comes to liquid lipstick application, a smooth, luscious and flake-free lips is what you need. You sure don't want to apply a liquid lipstick on top of a very dry and chapped lips, no? Now, just grab whatever lip scrub or lip exfoliator you have and gently scrub your lips, let's say at least 15 minutes before applying liquid lipstick. My all time favorite lip scrub is gotta be my homemade lip scrub! It's so easy to do, all you need is brown sugar and a little bit of raw honey. Au-naturale. It works wonders! My lips feels so smooth and it makes it easier for me to apply the liquid lipstick.

There you have it. That's my take in liquid lipstick and please bear in mind, I'm not an expert, I just love to share what works best for me and might as well works best for you too.

Do you wear liquid lipstick? What is your favorite liquid lipstick? And do you have your own trick that works best for you?

Five Things In November

five things in november

Hi everyone. How are you? Is everybody enjoying their November? I know I kind of do (kind of jelah) because it's my favorite month. By the way, I'm starting this series where I will wrap everything up that happened to me in that particular month. So here are my five things in November!

Being 20.....
I just turned 20 on 23rd of November. Whatever it is, I'm not feeling it. It wasn't a big deal apart from the "two or three more years before I get married" lol. Anyway, I had a blast but there wasn't a cake but who says pizza can't be your cake? Pizza is definitely the new freaking cake!

Dean's list was the best birthday gift ever!
As I thought I couldn't make it, oh gurrrl I'm so wrong. All thanks to The Almighty. This was definitely the best birthday gift I have ever received. Besides, I really want to 'give back' to my parents because they have done so many things for me. I know there's no way I can repay them but hopefully this will beat that.

Always up for a karaoke.
If you don't already know, I will never say no to karaoke. So over the weekend our family went to visit my uncle because he wasn't feeling well. There was just something about his health condition but he will be okay eventually. Apart from that, me and my sisters had a legit 5 hours karaoke session in my uncle's house. He has all the equipment you need when it comes to karaoke because he loves to karaoke as well! My first picks gotta be from Westlife, BSB, M2M, basically 90's to 00's hits. What are your first picks?
I didn't shop makeup.
Yup, it was a huge achievement. Don't argue with me. It was so hard to hold yourself back and not to pick any makeup items in most stores you went. Let's just say, I love the idea of being at home, with all the foods and excellent wifi connection. Yes 👍 But I had a little 'escape' which I already mentioned in my previous post.

Shah Alam, all over again.
I wasn't prepare at all. Mentally and physically. I have come to the point where I hate Shah Alam. I want to be home. I don't want to be where I am now. Blergh, this won't make me homed anyway. I just started my new semester and all I can say is that this semester is not going to be 'my semester' yknow what I mean? I have a strong feeling. Ugh, just pray for your homegirl.
I hope everyone had a blast November 💖
